Training Objective

This workshop helps organisations decide where to start their Power Platform investment. The programme covers an introduction to the four components of Power Platform (Apps, Automate, BI, Copilot), mapping participants' own business problems, prioritising use cases with an impact/effort matrix, matching solution concepts to the relevant components, and quick-win/POC (proof-of-concept) planning.

This workshop is not technical training but a discovery and decision-support exercise — it involves no coding or system setup. Participants leave with a concrete roadmap showing which technical training (AB-410, PL-300, Copilot, etc.) to invest in and in what order.

At the end of the day, participants leave not with scattered ideas but with a prioritised solution backlog and a concrete proof-of-concept plan.

02Exercises and Project Scenarios

Area 1

Apps (Application Development)

Identifying app ideas from participants' business problems that can be solved with Power Apps.

Area 2

Automate (Automation)

Identifying opportunities among manual and repetitive processes that can be automated with Power Automate.

Area 3

BI (Reporting)

Identifying reporting opportunities that Power BI can address where decision-making lacks visibility.

Area 4

Copilot (AI)

Identifying tasks in the daily workload that can be reduced with Microsoft Copilot.

The four areas are assessed together; by the end of the workshop it is clear which business problem will be solved with which area (or combination of areas) and in what order it will be addressed. No predefined project case is used in this workshop — instead, the real business problems participants bring from their own departments are mapped, prioritised and turned into solution concepts together throughout the workshop; the "case" is the organisation itself. The four areas below are assessed in turn throughout the workshop; they are not alternatives, and all of them are covered.

03Training Agenda (1 Day)

The agenda runs end to end in a single day; participants start the morning with a platform introduction and finish the day with a prioritised backlog and a POC plan.

Prerequisites: No software development knowledge is required. Basic Excel/Office skills are sufficient. Designed for business users and citizen developers.

Training Objective

This training aims to provide a broad, hands-on foundation in the three main components of Power Platform (app development, automation, reporting). The programme covers the Power Platform ecosystem, data modelling in SharePoint, building and customising canvas apps, model-driven app fundamentals, Power Automate cloud flows and basic reporting with Power BI; the training concludes with an integrated capstone project.

This bootcamp is positioned differently from IBA's AB-410 (Power Apps + Automate + Dataverse, in depth) and PL-300 (Power BI, in depth) training: rather than going deep into a single product, it provides a broad foundation across the whole platform. SharePoint is used as the data source instead of Dataverse; the organisation can later deepen any component with AB-410 or PL-300.

At the end of the training, participants own an integrated, end-to-end working solution that brings together the platform's three main components (app, automation, reporting) on the same case.

02Exercises and Project Scenarios

Option A

Expense Tracking

An end-to-end solution where employees submit expense claims, the manager approves them, the status is notified automatically and department-level expense reporting is visualised with Power BI.

Option B

Inventory Tracking

An end-to-end solution where product/material stock entries are recorded, a notification is sent when stock runs low and stock levels are monitored in a Power BI report.

Option C

Travel Leave Request

An end-to-end solution where an employee requests travel leave, the request goes to the manager for approval, the outcome is notified and travel requests are reported with Power BI.

Whichever case is selected, the technical scope and outcomes of the training remain the same — the same app, automation and reporting topics are covered. The training is based on a single case chosen by the participant from their own department; over six days this case is built up step by step: on Day 1 the case's data foundation is set up with the Power Platform ecosystem and a SharePoint data model, on Day 2 the case's data entry app is developed as a canvas app, on Day 3 a second, enterprise-style interface is added to the case with model-driven app fundamentals, on Day 4 approval/notification automation is added with Power Automate, on Day 5 basic reporting and visualisation are built on the case's data with Power BI, and on Day 6 the app, automation and report are combined in an integrated capstone project. The cases come from the same family as those used in IBA's AB-410 and Power Apps + Power Automate - Basic training; the organisation's own process can also be used as the case — provided it is of similar scope, this does not affect the duration or price of the training. Dataverse is not included in this training; a SharePoint list is used as the data source. The organisation can later deepen this case with AB-410, including Dataverse, or take the reporting side to an advanced level with PL-300.

The agenda is worked through day by day on the selected case; each day adds a new layer (app → automation → reporting) to the previous one.

04Technical Requirements

Computer: 1 per participant (Windows or macOS), with an internet connection
Software Installation: Power BI Desktop (free) — must be installed before the training; all other work is done in the browser
Browser: Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome (latest version)
Account: A Microsoft work/school account or a Power BI Pro trial account opened for the training
Data Source: A sample SharePoint list is used in the training; if preferred, the organisation can prepare a test list in its own environment

Licensing

No licence purchase is required for this training.

Power Apps and Power Automate are used with the standard (non-per-app) rights included in participants' existing Microsoft 365 licences.

Power BI Desktop is completely free; a free Pro trial licence is used for the sharing steps in the Power BI Service.

If the organisation moves the solution into production or adopts premium connectors such as Dataverse, a separate licensing assessment may be needed — this is outside the scope of the training.
